Watching our children have a temper tantrum is not a pretty sight. The complete loss of control and expression of frustration is agonizing. After witnessing numerous of these events, we wanted to make a piece that was about temper tantrums but that was beautiful and abstract.

This video installation piece is a kaleidescope made out of clear, corrugated plastic that morphs the video image into something new and breathes life into images of excess. The images are of gummy worms being dropped into water, our son's legs furiously swinging and our daughter hanging upside down. The song, written by Kirk Lynn and composed and sung by Jenny Westbury, is about having and knowing too many things and asking for protection which is what a temper tantrum is all about.
